These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the theBrief mobile application (the "App"), operated by SNK INVESTMENTS LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), based in the United States. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

theBrief delivers short, AI-generated audio summaries of news headlines, personalized to topics you choose. Summaries are produced automatically from third-party news sources and are provided for general informational purposes only. Every story links to its original source; the original publisher's reporting always controls where the two differ.
Content in the App — including stories about finance, health, or markets — is not financial, medical, legal, or investment advice. Do not make decisions based solely on an audio summary; consult the original reporting and, where appropriate, a qualified professional.
Summaries and narration are generated by artificial intelligence under editorial rules designed to keep them factual and calm. AI systems can make mistakes. We do not guarantee that any summary is complete, current, or error-free, and we are not liable for actions taken in reliance on App content.
theBrief Premium is an optional auto-renewing monthly subscription (currently $3.99 USD/month) that unlocks additional features such as the Long daily brief and on-demand audio generation for any story.
You agree not to: (a) interfere with or disrupt the App or its backend services; (b) attempt to access other users' data; (c) use automated systems to scrape, bulk-download, or re-distribute App content or audio; (d) reverse engineer the App except where the law permits; or (e) use the App in violation of applicable law.
The App, its design, branding, and generated audio are owned by SNK INVESTMENTS LLC or its licensors. Headlines and articles belong to their respective publishers. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
The App relies on third-party services (news providers, AI summarization and speech synthesis, sign-in providers, hosting). Their availability is outside our control, and features may degrade or pause if a provider is unavailable.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SNK INVESTMENTS LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or data, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections 6, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which SNK INVESTMENTS LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date above, and continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
